A tribute to the Andean Diva YMA SUMAC for the 100th anniversary of her birth
The international cultural project “YMA THE GREAT, in search of the Andean nightingale” pays a contemporary tribute to Yma Sumac, the great Peruvian diva, as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of her birth.
This original cultural and artistic project involves 15 musical artists around the work of the Peruvian coloratura soprano Sylvia Falcón, diva with 4 octaves, worthy heir of the Andean nightingale.
The project was the subject of a residency and tour in France in August 2022 and then a tour and artistic residency in Peru in November 2022 with a national tribute concert at the Gran Teatro Nacional with the Peruvian Ministry of Culture in front of 1500 people. Concerts and a residency were also held in the cities of Trujillo, Lima and Cajamarca.
